Waiting for Shibaricon

Well, its early on Tuesday morning and I'm at work, waiting till Thursday morning when the Poet and I will be heading down to Shibaricon. Seriously, I just cannot wait till we get there. To be honest, I've been counting the days for about the last month. I'm so jazzed because I'll get to learn a ton of stuff about rope, hopefully I get to meet Monk, there will be much fun had by hanging out with the Poet for 5 days, I get to buy some of Monk's hemp rope (probably the larger pre-packaged kit), and I get to relax.

Before I leave however, I have to pack up 80+% of my house and move to a new house several blocks away. That should be great fun, the same kind of fun as beating one's self in the testicles with a sledgehammer (no, I don't like CBT). The Poet, the Dad, and my grandfather will all be helping me so its all good. And the house is larger, closer to school, better neighborhood and slightly cheaper, so its a winning deal, but I just loathe moving.

Now, for something political. I have been nervously biting my nails for the past month over the filibuster fight. See, I read about politics constantly, from news sites, left leaning blogs and right wing nuts (hey, you have to know the enemy) and I am so glad to see that its over. I have been worried sick about what Sen. Frist was planning and it was getting to the point where I would cringe every time there was any story about the filibuster. This example of bipartisan cooperation is why smart Democrats, like me, can still respect people like Sen. McCain (R-AZ) and Sen. Chaffe (R-RI). They could have told Democrats to forget any deal and had an easy Supreme Court confirmation in a year or two. But they reached across the aisle and made a deal which is based on trust and mutual understanding, and to be honest, all 7 GOP Senators who were part of this deal are probably on the White House shit list right now. If you feel so inclined, call up the 14 Senators who are part of this deal (even if they don't represent you) and thank them for there dedication to the Senate and its history. Thank them for respecting the rights of the minority.

Well, I have to get back to guarding the building, which mostly means I point my flashlight at stuff, but hey, I'm getting paid.

A Real Post

Glad to see that you're all still here. I've been making some behind the scene changes recently by working to publicize this blog more and more. By adding counters, trimming away some links, registering on several sites which claim to help increase traffic. So hopefully one of these days I'll have a steady band of people reading my thoughts. Unlike so many blogs that friends have, I'm keeping this one strictly online. I don't go by Jake Bullet except for here, though I may change that to a scene name one of these days. So my friends and classmates aren't actually reading this, or if they are, they don't know its me. But anyway, time to actually blog about one of the 4 topics promised in the title. And with Shibaricon coming up soon, there will plenty of entries on S&M and Sex. So its time for politics.

Now, dear readers, you must know, that almost more than the hottest S&M scene ever, politics gets my dick hard. Its important to make a distinction between several particular aspects I could be talking about. I'll go ahead and say that I divide American state and federal level politics into 4 basic categories (excluding pundits, reporters and anyone working for a lobby group) and I've already played 3 roles and its the 4th that gives me wood. So here they are in rough order of which ones I'd prefer:

The Guy: This is the person who's name is on the ballot, who signs the letters, the legislation and everything else. He (or she) got elected and they are the representative. I have less than zero desire to be this person.
The Talker: 2 separate ideas I am rolling into one. The press secretary and the constituent relations type guys (these are the staffers you talk to when writing e-mails or making phone calls to politicians). Plus Comm directors. I've done it and while its fun and rewarding, its not my primary love. Everything for them is about solving other peoples problems and communicating.
The Policy Wonk: These guys get paid to get policies pushed through. Things like social security, economic development, and crime bills are their bread and butter. Frequently called "legislative aides". I could be happy being one of these people all my life. Working to get laws written and passed, they always have jobs and they get nice offices to. For the right person, I could do this and still get most of what I want out of politics.
The Winner: In many ways, the least fun position. Unreliable and sporadic work, horrid hours, low pay, low grade work facilities and an ever increasing level of stress. They are the campaign managers, the campaign staffers, the field organizers. They're only there to win. Winning is everything and losing is nothing. Heavily in demand every two years (plus for some off elections and special elections). These guys aren't paid to do what's in the best interest of anybody but "The Guy". And they don't have to be nice because (esp. when you're the challenger) they need to win and don't have the energy for anything else. Now, I've done this several times and loved it more and more each time.

See, I want to win. I want to make good laws and advance democratic principles of how things should be run, but at the end of the day, winning is more fun than anything else. Plus those winners usually get picked up to be a staffer for a few years and get to be in the thick of it.

Anyway, campaigning makes my dick hard and its something I hope to spend the next several years of my life doing. Tomorrow, expect a post about moving (god I loathe packing everything I have into small boxes only to reverse the whole process days later) and about the filibuster debacle going on.

First day on the job

Well, I am halfway through my first shift at my new summer job. As you should be able to tell from the fact that I am posting in the middle of the shift, its not the worlds most challenging job. Basically, I open and close doors for groups, make sure the building doesn't burn down, direct people to various parts of the building, tour the building to ensure that nothing is going wrong and count the money in the safe. Its not too bad but i have a feeling once i start doing the midnight to 7am shifts (4 times per week) that there will be much blogging about sex and beer and politics and, yes, S&M. Gotta to something to entertain myself because i have been told that in a given 7 hour overnight shift, there are 3 hours of work. 2 if you're efficent. Well, time to make sure the building hasn't burned down again. Future posts will include: Fillibusters, "grassroots organizing", Jonathon (the best friend) , Shibaricon (only 7 days away), meeting Monk (of twistedmonk.com), politics (in general), competitive districts, annoying Doms, munchs and a new topic. I think I want to be a switch instead of just a sub. But anywho, must dash.

News

Well, exams are once again upon me and i hate that but enough with unpleasent things. Soon I will start a job which involves many many long boring hours with a computer. And that means, that soon we will have regular (read almost daily) posts. About all matter of things (basically sex and politics). So, until then, I have to study.

Houses, houses everywhere

Well, once again here I sit to type and let my thoughts percolate and bubble. Many topics to cover before I scamper off to work on various projects. Also, for the record, I will start trying to blog everyday and go more into fun S&M stuff and political stuff soon. Its just been difficult to get back in the habit of blogging.

Being that I make almost no money, that I have more bills than one would expect and that I have chosen to live in certain areas of the town, I have roommates. Now, When moving into this current house, part of the lease was that the landlord would find 2 other people to occupy the house and it would be solely his choice. Well, originally the roommates and I got along quite well, we went to bars together, watched movies, smoked alot of cigarettes and generally had a good time. Right now, I live with a boy and a girl who happen to be dating. And they are still in that very "couple-ish" mode even after all these months. Well, once they started dating I started spending less time with them because I had better things to do and so we have drifted apart a little bit. Well, I had always operated under the assumption, because we all agreed to this awhile ago, that I would stay at this house and they would either also stay next year or move out. But either way, I was supposed to stay here. Well not so much anymore.

Then about 2 weeks ago, they suddenly spring on me "well, we were hoping you could move out because we want to stay here and have another couple move in.". And I am pretty peeved about that because it has been extraordinarily difficult to find a house. Most people in the area, find 2 other potential roommates and then they look for an open house and rent it. Since I refuse to room with friends of mine (for reasons I'll go into later), I have to search for 2 people with a house who are willing to let me move in. And that's difficult to find. More so because I only started looking in the last 2 weeks and not 6 weeks ago when most people started. But, despite this, I just found a house. My room would be bigger, the rent is lower, its closer to where I need to be and its very close to some cool restaurants. The only problem is now I have to move all my shit. Which would suck, but is even worse because of a little trip I'm taking.

I'm going to Shibaricon during memorial day weekend, which is the time I really should be moving because I need to be out of my current house by June 1. But that's alright because I will find a way to get everything moved without missing the event. One slight hiccup is that I invited Monk, of TwistedMonk, to come by on his way to Shibaricon. It would be so incredible to have him stop by, it would just make the move slightly tighter. I am just waiting till he e-mails or posts what his route will be before I make any plans. The Poet is also jazzed because I think she wants Monk to tie her up, which would be cool to see. But yeah, I really hope Monk makes a stop here, because that would just be absolutely amazing.

Well, I have way too much stuff to do and I have already spent too much time blogging, so any other thoughts have to wait till tomorrow.
